An open letter: I must take issue with the first "position" of your cause, "Animals are not ours to eat". I have been a vegetarian for about 12 years and I've been an ovopescatarian for about the last 3 years. I am not here to argue, I am here to discuss. I sent a friend of mine an invite to join this cause but she said she couldn't join because she eats meat. Everything else she does is in perfect sync with all the other positions in this cause. It bothered me that she did not want to join because she's exactly the kind of person you would want in this cause. To make a short story long, I am reposting what I wrote to her, where I try to persuade her to join this group: ========================== hello! You sure can join the animal rights group, you have my personal permission! ;) Heck Im an ovopescatarian (I eat eggs and fish but no other animal, etc) and I have no qualms about being a member of PITA. Everything must eat and to that end so must somethings die, it's the cycle of life. What bothers me about many vegetarian/vegans/etc is they make a distinction between killing an animal for food and killing a plant for food...the former is evil and the latter is fine...this makes no sense to me, killing is killing. There have been many studies showing that some plants can experience stress and even warn other plants of impending danger (through hormone release). So I think most vegetarian/vegans/etc need to get off their high horse, stop being hippocrates and realize exclusion is not cool. ===========================
