G007: /-------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | PickUp Guide | \-------------------------------------------------------------------------/ So, how exactly does PickUp work? First of all, you will need to have a Pokemon with that ability in your party. Here is a list of all the Pokemon that know pickup: -Meowth -Aipom -Teddiursa -Phanpy -Zigzagoon -Linoone -Parchisu -Aibipom -Munchlax As you can see, very few evolutions support the ability. The lover level ones such as Meowth, Zigzagoon, and Munchlax are good for the 1-30 level items, while Linoone is better for the mid level items (He can be caught at around level 26 in RSE, which is a good start). Aibipom is pretty much the only Pokemon on the list that you will ever hope to get at level 100, so try to find on on the GTS. Once you do have one of the Pokemon, you will need to enter Pokemon battles for the ability to work. Fortunatly, you do not need the Pokemon that has PickUp to participate, so you can have them just on your team. Here is a list of all the items you can get by PickUp. They depend mostly on your Pokemon's current level. /--------------------------------------------------------------------------\ |Level 1-10 | | | |30% Chance: Potion | |10% Chance: Antidote, Super Potion, Great Ball, Repel, Escape Rope, Full | | Heal | | 5% Chance: Hyper Potion | | 3% Chance: Ultra Ball | | 1% Chance: Nugget, Hyper Potion | |--------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Level 11-20 | | | |30% Chance: Antidote | |10% Chance: Super Potion, Great Ball, Repel, Escape Rope, Full Heal, Hyper| | Potion | | 5% Chance: Ultra Ball | | 3% Chance: Revive | | 1% Chance: Nugget, King's Rock | |--------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Level 21-30 | | | |30% Chance: Super Potion | |10% Chance: Great Ball, Repel, Escape Rope, Full Heal, Hyper Potion, Ultra| | Ball | | 5% Chance: Revive | | 3% Chance Rare Candy | | 1% Chance: King's Rock, Full Restore | |--------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Level 31-40 | | | |30% Chance: Great Ball | |10% Chance: Repel, Escape Rope, Full Heal, Hyper Potion, Ultra Ball, | | Revive | | 5% Chance: Rare Candy | | 3% Chance: Dusk Stone | | 1% Chance: Full Restore, Ether | |--------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Level 41-50 | | | |30% Chance: Repel | |10% Chance: Escape Rope, Full Heal, Hyper Potion, Ultra Ball, Revive, | | Rare Candy | | 5% Chance: Dusk Stone | | 3% Chance: Shiny Stone | | 1% Chance: Ether, White Herb | |--------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Level 51-60 | | | |30% Chance: Escape Rope | |10% Chance: Full Heal, Hyper Potion, Ultra Ball, Revive, Rare Candy, Dusk | | Stone | | 5% Chance: Shiny Stone | | 3% Chance: Dawn Stone | | 1% Chance: White Herb, TM 44 (Rest) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Level 61-70 | | | |30% Chance: Full Heal | |10% Chance: Hyper Potion, Ultra Ball, Revive, Rare Candy, Dusk Stone, | | Shiny Stone | | 5% Chance: Dawn Stone | | 3% Chance: Full Restore | | 1% Chance: TM 44 (Rest), Elixir | |--------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Level 71-80 | | | |30% Chance: Hyper Potion | |10% Chance: Ultra Ball, Revive, Rare Candy, Dusk Stone, Shiny Stone, | | Dawn Stone | | 5% Chance: Full Restore | | 3% Chance: Max Revive | | 1% Chance: Elixir, TM01 (Focus Punch) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Level 81-90 | | | |30% Chance: Ultra Ball | |10% Chance: Revive, Rare Candy, Dusk Stone, Shiny Stone, Dawn Stone, | | Full Restore | | 5% Chance: Max Revive | | 3% Chance: PP Up | | 1% Chance: TM 01 (Focus Punch), Leftovers | |--------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Level 91-100 | | | |30% Chance: Revive | |10% Chance: Rare Candy, Dusk Stone, Shiny Stone, Dawn Stone, Full Restore,| | Max Revive | | 5% Chance: PP Up | | 3% Chance: Max Elixir | | 1% Chance: Leftovers, TM 26 (Earthquake) | \--------------------------------------------------------------------------/ As you can see, there are several oddities in the list. For example: You can get the Hyper Potion with a 6% chance in the Lv 1-10 range instead of the normal 5% (Since it is also in the 1% item area). Some items can only be gotten at certain levels. Here is a list of those exotic items: /--------------------------------------\ |Item Name |Level Maximum | |---------------------|----------------| |Nugget | Level 1-20 | |King's Rock | Level 11-30 | |White Herb | Level 41-60 | |TM 44 (Rest) | Level 51-70 | |Elixir | Level 61-80 | |TM 01 (Focus Punch) | Level 71-90 | |Leftovers | Level 81-100 | |TM 26 (Earthquake) | Level 91-100 | \--------------------------------------/ After battle, there will be a small chance that there is a item equipped to the Pokemon with PickUp. Best way to tell is to have the Poketech APP that shows your party and any items they have equipped. For the most part, the chances of it getting a item are about 1 in 4 for every battle you go into. Note that wild Pokemon also count as battles, so you can get items for running into them. So, how well does it work? Take for example my experament team: 5 Level 100 Linoone and my Mewtwo. Running through the Elite 4, I was able to get a average of about 3 items at most, if I was lucky. On the field, my luck is a bit better. One thing to note is that even though you have a team full of Pokemon that knows pickup, there is a very slim chance that they will all be holding items at the end of battle. For example: With the 5 Linoone, the most I got at one time was 2 Linoone with items after a battle. On a very rare occasion, I got 3 items after battle. With a team of 5 Linoone with Pickup, I have yet to get above 4 items at one time after battle. As for the rare items, you should only focus on a few of them. Nuggets are nice early in the game when you don't have money, but fairly worthless by the game's end. While White Herb and Elixir are very rare, they are fairly worthlesss in most situations. Granted, if you are later in the game, the White Herb will be somewhat handy in competitive play. TM 44 can also be bought at the game corner for a fairly steep amount, but it is still far easier to get then the other TMs on the PickUp List. The items you want to go for are the King's Rock, Leftovers, TM 01, and TM 26. King's Rock can be gotten fairly early in the game, although it is very helpful in competitive play an is in high demand to evolve Slowpoke and Poliwhirl on the GTS (You might be able to get a legendary out of it if you put one of those Pokemon on the GTS with a King's Rock!) TM 01 is sort of blah, but can be useful if you know what to do. TM 26 can be bought at the Battle Park, but it takes a bunch of BP to do. Finally, leftovers are the Holy Grail of competitive battle, since they restore a little bit of HP each turn. Many people on the GTS would gladly trade higher level Pokemon just for one that has a Leftover item.
