Once upon a time there was a developer trying to play IT and install trac on a windows 2k3 server. He used the guide located at http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/0.10/TracOnWindows#Method2:UsingInstallers From this guide he learned about using various software with different versions (installed in this order): svn-1.4.6-setup.exe python-2.4.4.msi clearsilver-0.9.14.win32-py2.4.exe pysqlite-2.3.4.win32-py2.4.exe svn-python-1.4.4.win32-py2.4.exe trac-0.10.4.win32.exe Once all of these appeared the install correctly the developer rejoiced and praised the seasons. His next step was to configure trac. So he did what any normal non server admin would do and read http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/0.10/TracOnWindows#GettingStarted He then did this md d:\projects md d:\projects\svn svnadmin create d:\projects\svn\FORCE md d:\projects\trac He again rejoiced and praised the sun for bringing the warmth that allowed his directories to grow into their mighty file holding state. The next step that the developer read about was initializing a new project environment. So he ran: d:\Python24\Scripts\trac-admin.py d:\projects\trac\FORCE initenv Then the magical script ran, this at first scared the developer, but he conquered his fears and entered the values: Project Name [My Project]> FORCE Database connecting string [sqlite:db/trac.db]> Repository type [svn]> Path to repository [/path/to/repos]> d:\projects\svn Template directory [C:\Python24\share\trac\templates]> The developer then again rejoiced and thanked the bovine for giving its life to allow the developer the strength to type in all of the commands The developer next ran tracd.py -p 9000 d:\projects\trac\FORCE He then opened the page localhost:9000 in his browser and saw "Available Projects" and under that heading was listed FORCE, so he clicked FORCE and then tracd exited, no messages, no logs. At this the developer cursed the seasons, the sun, and then bovine. The forces then smited the developer and banished him to IRC. The End
