hello is openjdk-6 production ready ? * Ragnor (~Ragnor@dslb-084-060-189-012.pools.arcor-ip.net) has joined #openjdk * Ragnor_ has quit (Ping timeout: 480 seconds) * dalibor (~topic@dslb-084-059-009-239.pools.arcor-ip.net) has left #openjdk leonel: sorta robogeek: why ? leonel: it's quality is "pretty good" and we do mean for openjdk 6 to be more stable than openjdk7 so it's not a replacement for jdk 6 from sun ?? There are known bugs and a known regressions from previous releases it is not as highly tested as the regular JDK 6 builds it is missing most of the work that has gone into 6u4, 6u5, 6u6, 6u10, etc there are known compatibility problems all these are issues for us and/or the community to work on improving sun has released jdk6 update 5 openjdk does not have that changes or what jdk6 from sun is openjdk6 what are you looking for? it's complicated and has to do with the lineage openjdk6 is derived from openjdk7 b20 whereas the 6u1,2,3,4,5,6,7,... train is a continuation of jdk6 robogeek: looking for info about the current status and security updates that make into openjdk and how fast they go there is work which has gone into jdk6 which has not been forward ported into jdk7, openjdk7 nor openjdk6 security fixes are a different issue, the openjdk builds are part of the security fix release system so I can say that openjdk has security updates ? yes just what makes different are the non security changes made to jdk6 yes and security updates get into sbn or mercurial or cvs ? we're using mercurial great
