I am designing a social networking site similar to MySpace. One idea that my co-admin had was to let people insert playlists from playlist.com rather than MySpace's somewhat retarded method of tracking down the artist's profile (assuming they have one) and adding only one song. I registered for playlist.com, added a song to a playlist just to test it, and grabbed the code. After a bit of hacking, I reduced it down to this: I have a few questions about this code, which you could probably answer better than me, as it is your site after all. - If (when :-) my site ever becomes as big as MySpace will I have problems with the large amount of bandwidth? I understand the music itself wasn't stored on your servers, but what about the player being loaded repeatedly? - Are there any legal restrictions on modifying the code like this? (Specifically, I removed the links at the bottom. I don't know if those were required.) - I removed a lot of redundant-seeming tags and attributes. Will these cause any technical difficulties if playlist changes some of its code? - It seems like it should be easy to auto-generate this code per user by having them provide their playlist ID, which can be plugged in near the end of the code. Is there an easy way I can tell them for getting the playlist ID, besides looking at your code and extracting it manually? Thanks, Mike Smith
