Thank you for your interest in purchasing an IBM System/390 unit for "certain purposes." IBM strives to determine and meet the exact needs of all of its customers, in order to provide them with the best possible solution for their problem. Typically when a customer approaches us to purchase a new computing system, they list specific requirements, but not a specific system they would like.
In order to better serve you as a customer of IBM, even as a customer of IBM's Used Equipment Division, we'd like to know a little bit more about what you will be using the system for, and the type of budget you have for your computing solution. IBM's Used Equipment Division prides itself on being able to find the right equipment for almost anyone.
To help us find the right system for your needs, IBM's Used Equipment Division needs to know a variety of things about your existing computing solutions, and your expectations for your upcoming purchase. We find that it's easiest if you let us know in your own words exactly what you need, so we'd like you to describe your existing setup to us, and give us an idea of what you'd like your IBM computing system to do for you. Below is a small list of things we typically find helpful when determining what will best serve a customer's needs:
-Any and all information about your existing computing solution
-Number of concurrent users
-Software and hardware you're using
-Tasks your users perform on your systems and network
-Any functionality you don't currently have that you would like to add.
-Any changes in the amount of users this system has to support, if for example it will only be used by a subset of your general userbase, or if it's intended for use by the public at large.
-Specific applications you'd like to be able to run.
-Any development capabilities you'd like.
